In this post I am going to list all music and sound effect to explain why my group choose to include them and what places and on how effective they are. First of all, the research I conducted on sound was to find trailers that had a good use of sound. Here are some that I believe works well:
What I like about each of them is that I feel like they work very well with the cinematography for each film as well as the plot of the story line.
00.00- 00.12 Suspenseful Chase Music, Run and Hide (Horror Music) and Dramatic Suspense Sound
00.00- 00.12 Suspenseful Chase Music, Run and Hide (Horror Music) and Dramatic Suspense Sound
These are the sound we used for the intro of our trailer. We wanted the music in the intro of our trailer to reflect the fast pace scenes and the suspense that Phoenix felt. We felt like the combination of the three create a powerful build up.
00.12-00.38 - Free Cinematic Background Music, Blair Witch Theme Song
This sound is placed at the part of our trailer where the equilibrium is still stable. It is an eerie yet still positive mixture of sound. I feel like the cinematic sound helps create a story and makes it follow whilst Blair Witch's soundtrack gives it a deeper and more horror-like element.
00.38-00.43 - Dramatic Suspense Sound
This is for the titles. The Hatred uses a similar sound for their titles and so I was inspired to do the same as it separates the titles from the rest of the trailer and makes them stand out. A member of my target audience also mentioned that it helped them remember what text appeared on the screen.
00.41-01.45 - Blair Witch Theme Song
00.46-02.10 - Colossal trailer music We used the seconds 10:00 to 10.45.
We then used the combination of Blair Witch's soundtrack and Colossal's soundtrack for the middle section of the trailer. We picked parts of them each that went with each scene and then rearranged and manipulated so it we could make the most out of it. One part is when Phoenix is following Raven home there is a part of dramatic music that reflects Phoenix's emotions as she discovers Raven home.
01.46-02.04 - the Ring soundtrack used 01.41-02:00
This was used for the build up at the end after Eli's scream. We added them and cut them so we could experiment with the sound, making some parts louder and others quieter.
01.08-01.59 - Horror fear suspense sound
This is repeated throughout this duration. It acts as pulsing beat that creates more suspense and tension. Towards the end we increase the speed so it feel like it was getting more intense.
00.00 - 02.17 Ambient Woods Alan Wake
This is used throughout the entire trailer. It is woods themed and links to the concepts of the birds. It is a very soft sound and has birds noises in the background.
01.31-01.32 Ping Sound Effects
The ping sound was used when Phoenix's phone went of. It made a better sound than the original ping as it can be heard better.
We tried to stick to royalty free music. This is because it is copyright free. However we did use soundtracks from 3 movies which are copyrighted. If our work was for professional purposes I would of contacted the owner and send them a permission agreement.
